Jay Gordon, CSW
Certified Social Worker
In person (Bountiful) + Telehealth (UT)
Hi, I'm Jay (he/him), a Certified Social Worker in Utah and Maryland. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, with lived experience and clinical expertise for LGBTQIA+, ENM, adopted, BIPOC and AAPI folks. I treat you as a whole person rather than a diagnosis, operating from the belief that you are the expert on your own life and that our struggles often reflect unmet needs rather than personal flaws.
I offer individual therapy to adults and older teens navigating major depression, severe anxiety, trauma and PTSD, self-harm, relationship challenges, life transitions, and borderline personality disorder. My goal is to help you explore root causes, reframe unhelpful thoughts, build on your strengths, and develop a practical toolkit of coping skills.
My therapeutic style is steady, warm, thoughtful, collaborative, and encouraging. I ground my work in evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University. I am supervised by Dr. Alice Roberts, LCSW. In my free time, you’ll find me taking photos, snowboarding, hiking, or traveling. I look forward to working with you!
Approaches: IFS, ACT, CBT, DBT.
Availability: Accepting new clients.
